Memo

The 14th Annual Personalized Medicine Conference at Harvard Medical School will examine where new scientific developments in personalized medicine meet with still evolving policies and practices around the world, presenting both challenges and opportunities for the field. As the sessions will demonstrate, targeted therapies, highly personalized one-time treatments, and newly conceived diagnostic paradigms now help us predict, prevent, and treat disease in previously unimaginable ways, and artificial intelligence may soon give us the ability to refine and augment our ability to implement medical interventions at exactly the right time and in exactly the right way. But many public officials have only just begun to consider the policies necessary to ensure that these new treatments and technologies are accessible to patients when they are needed. Government representatives from around the world will join us at the conference to explore what's working and what's not, and to examine the extent to which various countries have a competitive advantage in the field. Some of the world's most prominent business leaders, too, will participate in the conference to share their perspectives on the state of regulatory and reimbursement environments, as well as the outstanding business model challenges associated with developing personalized therapies that must recoup fixed development costs from smaller patient populations. The industry representatives will touch on passionately contested issues related to cost, prices, and access. But perhaps most importantly, patients themselves will offer perspectives on what they want the next era of medicine to look like. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
