The Saudi healthcare system has made extraordinary progress within a short period of time, where there is a huge investment to provide high quality health care to patients moving to a patient-centric model where pharmacists play a vital role as integral members of the healthcare team. Pharmacists play an important role as leaders to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce cost, enhance patient safety, optimise medication management systems, and align the pharmacy services with the management strategies that measure and reward quality performance. However, the continuous evolution of pharmacist's role is tied to numerous challenges including collaboration with the different stakeholders in the medical community, learning about new technologies, remaining competitive in the marketplace, improving patient outcomes, maintaining productivity and more. The Arab International Pharmacy Congress will familiarise attendees with the latest technologies used to improve healthcare outcomes, highlight key solutions to the challenges, facing the profession in the kingdom and covers a variety of topics enhancing supply chain management, ambulatory and clinical pharmacy practice, medication safety, pharmacy informatics and more.
